Moods of Mount Torlesse

Three photos I took of Mount Torlesse this morning. A rosy sunrise, A bright frosty morning, and then a nor'wester storm.

Annat Apocalypse

Fierce Nor'west gales whipped up mayhem in the small Canterbury settlement.  On the right is a wildfire in shelter belts and scrub, not far from the houses.  On the left is a dust storm from a huge, freshly tilled field.

Nor'wester Effects

The nor'wester produces many different effects in the sky and on the mountains.

Nor'wester and Starling

Starling in late afternoon rain

The nor'west wind brought mild, dry conditions, but spill-over rain from the mountains late in the day.

The starling is the male of one of six or seven pairs that nest within my garden. Although I put food out for the birds they never touch it, preferring to graze in nearby fields or on my lawn.
